Steven Smith Handed One-match Ban

Fielder Cameron Bancroft, the player to actually tamper with the ball, was given three demerit points and fined 75% of his match fee after accepting the Level 2 charge.

Cricket Australia has announced Steve Smith and David Warner will stand down as Captain and Vice-Captain for the remainder of the Test match against South Africa.

The Australian team is accused of ball tampering and Australian government asked Smith to be removed from the captaincy.

Both players took the field under the temporary leadership of wicketkeeper Tim Paine.
